We are finally back!! Sorry for the delay. We have had quite an interesting 6 months since our last entry. Here is the quick summary: wheelchair, walker, scooter, black eye, weightloss, black bear. So what does all this mean?
I fell down two steps carrying Mary Kate in January and ended up fracturing one ankle and badly spraining the other. It required surgery. The recovery...well it is still in progress. I started off in a wheelchair until my sprained ankle could manage the weight of my whole body. Then I was using a walker for a bit. A very nice friend loaned me a motorized scooter that I took to work. Embarassing at first, but then funny to wave to everyone in the hallways at school. I've been walking without help for two months and have a little limp, but it is getting better every day. Thank god Peter and Mary Kate have been so patient. And thanks most of all to Ken who became more of a superdad than before: chauffer, cook, maid, nurse, dad, major caretaker of everyone! We love him and appreciate him more than ever before.
Speaking of Ken, you wouldn't recognize him if you haven't seen him in the last 8 months. He has lost an amazing amount of weight and is just downright skinny now. He has always been very attractive, but is even more handsome than ever. If you ask Mary Kate, she'll say he is gorgeous and he is!
Mary Kate took a tumble with dad on the ice outside of daycare in February. She was fine, but had the worst black eye I have ever seen on a child for about a month. It doesn't stop her though...she is still our danger girl. Mary Kate turned two in April and is always amazing us with what she knows and is able to say. Her vocabulary is way to big for her age. She is smart and feisty and sweet and lovable all at the same time.
Peter is doing great! He will turn four in September and will be starting pre-K twice a week. He loves to wrestle and play rough with dad. He is often running around the house with only his pants because he is the hulk! He loves to go to the movies with his dad and has endless energy. His listening ears only work sometimes, but he is always trying. A prelude to the following paragraph: Peter has been playing 'bearfight' since he was one and saw the bearfight scene from the movie, "Ron Burgandy: Anchorman" If you have seen it, you would be able to recognized champ (aka Peter) running around the house with his cowboy hat saying, "Newsteam...Let's hunt!" and then jumping off of anything possible. Once on the ground he gets into battle position and yells, "Bearfight!"
We have a new addtion to the family. A black lab puppy named, "Bear." She is a sweet little dog who loved her family from the day she joined us at only 6 weeks old. She is getting big and is always trying to bearfight with Max and Allie. Peter always looks on and encourages the play!
We are enjoying our summer off (except Ken) to get caught up around the house and play! Hopefully, we will have plenty of new entries for all of you to see soon.
